Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims has released a statement on social media after a shooting in downtown Dayton Tuesday afternoon.
The statement reads:
“I am disappointed by this evening’s shooting in downtown Dayton and I am thankful that no was was fatally harmed. The city of Dayton, our downtown community, and several partners have invested great time and effort into downtown Dayton’s safety and revitalization. As our central business district, it’s vital that we continue to create a downtown environment that feels safe for those who work, live and play in it.
Instances like the one that occurred this evening are unacceptable and we will continue to use every resource at our disposal to prevent such senseless gun violence in our city and downtown. I’ve spoken with Chief Kamran Afzal in regard to this incident and am aware that the Dayton Police Department has started their investigation. They will move quickly to ensure the …
