Australia ‘out of step’ with the rest of the world on nuclear energy

Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel says it takes “very little” for a politician to put their hand up and support the ban on nuclear energy being lifted in Australia.

Australia is the only G20 nation which prohibits the development of nuclear energy.

“We should be able to have all energy options being considered in Australia – as every single other country around the world is able to,” Mr Shackel told Sky News host Steve Price.

“We are out of step with the rest of the world.

“If we want to have a pragmatic approach to our energy transition and be able to get to net zero, then the only way to do that is by – at the very least – considering the role for nuclear energy.”
