Andrew Forrest rubbishes nuclear push despite rising support

Billionaire mining magnate Andrew Forrest has doubled down on his opposition to nuclear energy despite more voters warming to the idea.

“Would you prefer coal, which everyone is moving away from, or would you prefer nuclear?” Mr Forrest said.

“That’s like saying, would you like to be held up by an armed robber or an unarmed robber – it’s a pretty basic lead for the answer.

Forrest said the introduction of nuclear energy would take “10 to 15 years at least” and would be “four times more expensive”.

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan sat down with Sky News Australia to discuss the mining magnate’s comments on nuclear energy.
