Peter Dutton grills Anthony Albanese on renewable energy policy

Opposition leader Peter Dutton criticised the Albanese government for trying to turn off the old energy system before the new system is “ready”.

The leader of the opposition slammed Labor for their continued push for renewable energy, which he claims is expensive and disruptive to the grid.

“If you do that, not only will you have that disruption to supply, you will have an increase in prices,” Mr Dutton said during a press conference.

“We need to have a baseload of energy, which in 19 of 20 G20 countries, is nuclear – or is about to be nuclear.

“Like on the Voice, the Prime Minister says there is nothing to see here … Australians have seen through that.

“It’s incumbent on the Prime Minister to start having an adult discussion in relation to what is one of the most important issues for our country to deal with.”
