WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Energy Observer is the world’s first hydrogen-powered zero-emission vessel to travel around the world, making stops in parts of Europe, Africa and now North America.

This week, it stopped at the Wharf in the District.

“Very special for us because on boats we are used to have always diesel noise, vibrations, smell… on this boat you… don’t hear nothing,” said Louis Noel Vivies, general manager of the Energy Observer.

“We are a little sad, because it’s the end of 7-year trip, but it has been so interesting,” Vivies said.

Their journey started in 2017 in France.
