Energy company announces carbon capture and storage project coming to Mobile County [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – One of the largest energy companies in the U.S. has announced a carbon capture and storage project coming to Mobile County.

Leaders from Tenaska were in Mobile on Friday to announce the Longleaf CCS Hub, which officials say will safely store carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes, preventing them from entering the atmosphere.

“A big one here is the removal of CO2. So, any company that is interested in reducing their carbon dioxide emissions, this project facilitates that. So, you can control your industrial facility and remove CO2, which you need somewhere to store it long-term and durably. So, we provide that service,” said Tenaska Vice President of Development Bret Estep.
