NSW flood warnings update: Chris Minns says natural disaster to be declared

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has given an update on the major flood warnings in place for NSW praising the “brave” efforts of SES volunteers and revealing a natural disaster is to be declared.

Evacuation orders are in place for parts of New South Wales due to torrential rain and flooding.

“There have been 960 people that have been evacuated from their homes,” Mr Minns informed Sky News.

“190 people have been rescued by the SES in floodwaters in New South Wales – which is a testament to how brave and dedicated our volunteers in the SES actually are.

“We expect a disaster declaration to be declared – a natural disaster declaration to be declared later this morning.”
