At a time when our oceans are severely threatened by overfishing and the climate crisis, deep sea mining poses another serious threat. Like land-based mining, deep sea mining is extremely destructive. But the impacts of mining the ocean floor are far more difficult to predict or measure. It can damage the oceans beyond repair, threatening their ability to fight climate change.
