PEORIA (25News Now) – Temperatures have skyrocketed into the 80s today setting a new record high of 86 degrees. That is 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. However, the sunny and dry conditions will be short lived, with showers and thunderstorms forecasted to make an appearance starting, Monday night. The risk escalates on Tuesday, with a level 2 severe weather threat covering our region particularly in the late afternoon and evening hours. Therefore, stay weather aware for the possibility for scattered thunderstorms conditions. Southerly winds are also set to gust between 30 to 35mph on Tuesday as well and as the week progresses, temperatures are expected to cool down again by late week.
