(KRON) — On Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol announced the death of a woman after being struck by a car on Highway 1 in Monterey County.

On Sunday, CHP said the woman who was struck was walking down Highway 1 south of Potrero Road at approximately 11 p.m.

Officials later identified Jose Rosas, 42, with a blue Hyundai driving southbound on Highway 1. CHP said Rosas and another passenger were driving in the victim’s direction.

CHP said Rosas, the driver of the Hyundai, had struck the victim with the front right of his car. The victim then came to a rest on the southbound lane of traffic, where CHP said she died on the scene.

As of this report, no information on the victim is currently available. The Monterey County Coroner’s Office will provide identification as soon as the next of kin has been notified.
