PEORIA (25News Now) – In recent years, there has been a significant shift towards renewable energy sources, particularly wind and solar power.

Solar energy took center stage at Illinois Central College on Tuesday, where various organizations gathered to spotlight career opportunities in the solar power industry, with a focus on minority inclusion.

Shon Harris, owner of Live Wire Construction, emphasized the growth of solar energy and the multitude of career options available.

“We want them to come out and participate in these opportunities and not get taken advantage of by being a contractor and understand and explore all the opportunities that are available to be in this program and be in the energy sector and create a career there and possibly if they want start and grow a business,” Harris said.
