WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -Periods of rainfall and thunderstorms will be on the way for the weekend. Rain begins late Friday, likely coming to an end by Monday. A stretch of rainy weather is on tap over 4 days, starting Friday and lasting into Monday. Increasing clouds are expected on Friday. Afternoon highs around the upper 50s. Gusty southeast winds up to 30 mph. Rain will arrive later in the day Friday, likely by Friday evening.

The umbrella will come in handy over the upcoming weekend as a frontal system moves through the region. Periods of rain continue throughout Saturday as a warm front arrives in the state.
