Dehradun Water Crisis News: There are frequent water shortages in about 120 localities within the city due to temperature rise. To address this issue, the department has made an alternative plan for these identified areas. Under the plan, the Jal Sansthan (Water department) will supply water to these areas using tankers and ensure that generators are available at tube wells for uninterrupted water supply. Dehradun currently relies on 283 tube wells and three river-spring sources for its water supply. However, as temperatures rise, groundwater levels decrease, affecting the capacity of tube wells and diminishing water flow from other sources. The Water Department has identified over 120 localities, 16 settlements, and colonies across four zones where severe water shortages occurred in previous years.
