‘Ideological belligerence’: Labor slammed for not lifting nuclear energy ban

Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume has slammed Labor for their “ideological belligerence” which won’t see Australia lift the “moratorium” on nuclear energy.

Ms Hume said around the world, nuclear energy has been included in the mix.

“Australians are paying higher electricity bills than a huge number of countries around the world that have already invested in nuclear,” she told Sky News Australia.

“Labor’s policy of 82 per cent renewables by 2030 not only is not going to be achieved, but it requires an incredible investment in transmission lines.

“There is a very clear choice between a Coalition policy … and this ideological belligerence that won’t even see Australia lift the moratorium on nuclear energy to include it as part of our thinking.”
