Bengaluru Water Crisis: Karnataka Govt Puts Restrictions On Water Usage; Heres Whats Banned [Video]

In response to the acute water shortage plaguing Bengaluru, the Karnataka government has implemented stringent measures to conserve drinking water. The Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board (KWSSB) has prohibited the use of drinking water for non-essential purposes, including washing cars, gardening, construction, and maintenance activities. Additionally it has imposed fines of Rs 5,000 for violations of these restrictions.

What Activities are Banned In Bengaluru Amid Water Crisis:

The Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board (KWSSB) has prohibited the use of potable water for :

  • cleaning vehicles
  • construction activities including buildings and roads
  • gardening
  • fountains and other non-essential purposes.

-Malls and theatres are permitted to use water only for drinking purposes. Meanwhile, residents have been urged to use drinking water judiciously

According to the BWSSB order, the use of potable water for non-essential activities is strictly prohibited to ensure the availability of drinking water for Bengaluru’s population, which stands at 1.40 crore.
