The grant money will enable households in low-income and disadvantaged communities to benefit from distributed solar energy.

ST. LOUIS — The city of St. Louis will be awarded federal funding for residential solar projects as part of two coalition groups that are among 60 chosen to receive a combined $7 billion in awards.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday announced the 60 groups that will receive the funding through the Solar for All grant competition.

The groups chosen for the Solar for All grants will provide funds to states, municipalities, nonprofits and other groups to develop solar programs to enable low-income and disadvantaged communities to benefit from distributed residential solar energy, EPA officials said.
