Coolville Public Meeting Updates Injection Well Lawsuit [Video]

COOLVILLE. OH (WTAP) -Are the residents Coolville and Torch at risk from injection of fracking waste? Some say “Yes”.

A public meeting was held in Coolville Elementary Wednesday evening considering the ongoing concern over migration of fracking waste water from injection wells.

Dr. Natalie Kruse, Director of Environmental studies program at Ohio University addressed the more than five dozen in attendance.

“The things that I worry about are, “what are the potential pathways, even if they are unlikely and what would be the potential to detect a problem if a problem arose. Right? asks Dr. Kruse. “So, if brine were to migrate into a drinking well, how long would it take you to notice? What would be the signs? Would it taste salty?”

James Yskamp, Senior Attorney with Earth Justice is advising the group in their efforts to raise the bar with environmental laws.
