PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona unions are protesting the recent firing of a long-time Phoenix City Hall custodian.
The company the city contracts for cleaning recently let the employee go for violating the dress code; however, she and a local union chapter feel her firing was retaliation.
“I want justice. I want them to give benefits to everyone. I also want them to give me my job back. It was wrong what they did to me,” said former custodian Maria Sanchez.
Sanchez used to work for the company 3H & 3H, which is contracted by the city of Phoenix to clean their buildings.
She was recently hit with a dress code violation. It was her third write-up in the last two years over various other reasons.
This time, she received a letter from the company saying she was fired. But the termination letter and reason don’t sit right with Sanchez.
