After a chilly, breezy afternoon temperatures are expected to plummet overnight with clear skies and light winds. Lows in the teens and single digits can be expected area-wide, setting the stage for a frigid Tuesday morning. Tuesday features plenty of sunshine and excellent travel weather across New England before the storm arrives Tuesday night. Snow and rain push into Maine late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning as the wind starts to pick up. Rain is expected for those along and near the coast Wednesday while snow changing to rain is expected further inland. The exception is in the mountains where it may stay cold enough for snow throughout the day.
