Gas prices about 50 cents higher than Labor Day last year [Video]

Making a gasoline stop this Labor Day weekend will be cheaper than it was a month ago, but quite a bit more expensive than a year ago.

Last Labor Day, the AAA Texas price for regular was just over $2.80per gallon. Today, it’s more than a half-dollar higher at $3.32.

But just a month ago it was $3.69. However, prices have been falling along with petroleum.

Today, West Texas Intermediate is trading around $88.40, down just about $7 per barrel just in the past week to ten days.

The highest in-state gas prices are in West Texas where Culberson and Brewster counties are over four dollars. The national price today is $3.80 on average.
