WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – I-10 West has re-opened at LA 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish following a crash involving a car and multiple 18-wheelers, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened Sunday morning, June 30.
According to LSP, four 18-wheelers were involved along with the passenger car.
As a result of the crash, about 40,000 pounds of candles were scattered across the roadway. Heavy duty wreckers are headed to the scene to help clean up the mess.
As of 9 a.m., westbound interstate traffic was being diverted at LA 415 north to US 190 West. Transportation officials said congestion is stretching past the I-10/I-110 split.
Troopers said that one of the drivers of the 18-wheelers suffered moderate injuries.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was determined to be impaired and will face charges, according to LSP.
