Kazakhstan is completing a two-year chairmanship in the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Over 70 years, this organization has been fostering sustainable development, promoting environmental protection, and facilitating trade and integration into the global economy. The main goal of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship was the promotion of its and other Central Asian states’ interests and cooperation with the UNECE.
ZHANAR AITZHANOVA, KAZAKH AMBASSADOR TO SWITZERLAND:
– The main achievement was the agreement to create the Green Technologies Center under the auspices of the United Nations. This center will not just attract investments into the so-called new, alternative energy production, but also modernize existing production facilities in Kazakhstan.
