Local reaction to Supreme Court’s homelessness ruling [Video]

We are following the new responses pouring in as the Supreme Court rules on a number of major decisions. One now clears the way for cities to enforce bans on people sleeping in public outside. The 6-3 decision finds that outdoor sleeping bans are OK. “The reality is that it should not be illegal to be homeless, it’s unfortunate that people are homeless, and what we are doing in New Orleans is trying to get people off the street and sheltered, and I’m hopeful this will not impede the progress that we’re making here in New Orleans,” said New Orleans city council member Lesli Harris. It comes as the city has seen the clearing of large and visible encampments.
