(WABI) – Maine’s Congressional Delegation has announced funding for Penobscot Indian Nation.
The $199,000 will go towards increasing the tribe’s involvement and support of energy, climate change, and ocean-related issues.
The money is funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure law and was dispersed by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Regional Ocean Partnerships Program.
Members of the congress say, “This funding will be critical as Penobscot Nation leaders work alongside other Wabanaki nations and Maine state officials to better understand and address our state’s environmental and climate challenges.”
