LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) – A Lawrence man will spend two years in prison after he broke into a young woman’s bedroom while naked and on parole for voluntary manslaughter.
Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced on Wednesday, July 3, that Major C. Edwards Jr., 45, of Lawrence, was sentenced to nearly 2 years in prison – 21 months – for an aggravated battery conviction.
Court records noted that charges stemmed from an incident that happened in the early morning of June 10, 2023. The Lawrence Police Department was called to the 1400 block of W. 7th St. after a naked Edwards broke into a then 19-year-old woman’s bedroom and tackled her to the ground.
Police indicated that another woman in the apartment was able to intervene and called police. At the time, Edwards had also been on parole for a 2006 voluntary manslaughter conviction in Douglas Co. He pleaded guilty to the aggravated …
