New Jersey on Monday opened the door to more offshore wind farms in pursuit of 100% clean energy goals even as concerns — which so far have gone unsubstantiated — grow that pre-planning for turbines is causing whale deaths.
It comes in the seventh year of an investigation of what the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration calls an “unusual mortality event,” with more than 180 stranded humpback whales reported on the Atlantic Coast in that span.
