N.J. weather: Strong storms spark severe thunderstorm warnings in parts of state [Video]

Clusters of strong thunderstorms are moving across eastern Pennsylvania and pushing into parts of New Jersey Wednesday evening, prompting the National Weather Service to issue severe thunderstorm warnings in some counties.

Forecasters say a strong cold front interacting with hot and humid air is triggering a line of storms with heavy downpours, large hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph, which are strong enough to topple trees and power lines.

The weather service says some of the thunderstorms that develop Wednesday evening could become strong enough to generate isolated tornadoes, especially in northeastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey. Hail stones as large as 2 inches in diameter are also possible with some of the storm cells.
