NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A pleasant weekend is ahead for most of the Gulf Coast region with warm temperatures and lots of sunshine.

Expect temperatures to rise as we head into Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be a transition day, with winds shifting from the north to the south. This change will bring warmer weather and a touch of humidity. By Sunday, highs will reach the low 80s, perfect for outdoor activities.

Rain chances will remain low for the next couple of days, keeping the weekend relatively dry. Models suggest only isolated showers possible Sunday and Monday.

Wednesday is shaping up to be the most impactful day of the week as a storm system moves across the region. Some storms could become strong to severe, producing heavy rainfall. Widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 4 inches are forecasted between Wednesday and Thursday, raising concerns for potential flooding.
