P.E.I. gas, diesel prices fall 4 cents a litre as federal carbon increase looms [Video]

Gas and diesel prices dropped on Prince Edward Island Friday, just three days before an increase in the federal carbon levy is expected to add an almost equal amount to the price of a litre. 

The price changes came after the weekly price review from the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

  • The minimum price of regular unleaded gas at the pump dropped 4.0 cents a litre, to just under $1.66, and a litre of premium gas went down 3.0 cents to $1.79.  
  • The minimum price of diesel at the pump is also down 4.0 cents to $1.87.
  • The maximum price for home heating oil fell 4.0 cents, to $1.37 a litre.  

The cost of propane on P.E.I. is recalculated every other week. On March 22, it fell an average of 2.8 cents per litre for bulk delivery, to $0.87.
