RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Historic Preservation Commission invites people to a workshop on repairing and restoring windows in historic homes.

The workshop features a restoration specialist who will talk about doing work on properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, maintenance and restoration techniques and energy efficiency options among other topics.

Officials with the city say while focusing on historic properties, the workshop will have valuable information for all homeowners.

“We’ll just go through the beginning to end, and everything you need to know,” said Jonathan Howard, special projects planner for Rapid City. “Not just for historic windows, but anybody who needs to do repair on their windows that maybe thought the window estimate came in a little high. You can do one a month until you’re done.”

The workshop will take place in City Hall’s Community Room on Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. …
