Record-setting winter, wet spring making way for hot, dry weather conditions ripe for wildfires [Video]

Utah has gone through a record-setting winter and a cool, wet spring. The moisture has left vegetation lush and green at a time when things normally start to turn brown. But a coming change in the weather pattern will start to dry things out.

“We’re seeing a little bit below average fire activity from what we’ve seen in recent years,” said Karl Hunt, a spokesperson for the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. “But we are definitely drying out.”
