Solar component plant to produce more than a 1,100 jobs in Saginaw County | Business [Video]

Corning, Inc hopes to have the plant up and running in the middle of 2025

SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – More than eleven hundred jobs are expected to be created in the Great Lakes Bay Region as a solar manufacturing plant will be built in the county.

Ground is already being moved along Orr Road near Hemlock Semiconductor. Corning Inc. hopes to have the plant up and running in the middle of 2025.

What will be made there is still a bit of a mystery.

“$900 million project,” says Richland Township Manager Rob Grose. “It’s unbelievable.”

The groundwork has already started along Orr Road as about eighty acres are being prepared for a solar component manufacturing facility that will be built by Corning, Incorporated’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Solar Technology.
