SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho — There’s a mystery unfolding in Humboldt Gulch. 

Located several miles up a winding canyon road from the town of Wallace, Humboldt Gulch is where one of 30 SNOTEL weather stations keep track of the snowpack in North Idaho. Dozens more are spread across Montana and Eastern Washington with hundreds more in other parts of the West.
