Labour’s appointment of Partygate chief investigator Sue Gray as the party’s chief of staff “stinks,” Jacob Rees-Mogg has said.
The Whitehall veteran was thrust into the limelight when she published a bombshell report in May 2022 into lockdown-busting parties in Boris Johnson’s government.
Six weeks later, the then-prime minister was forced out of office by his own cabinet and MPs.
Speaking on GB News, the Conservative MP for North East Somerset accused Ms Gray of being “a bureaucrat who now turns out to be backing the Socialist Party.”
