Times up: Family reeling from Slidell tornado worries whats next [Video]

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Families in Slidell, still reeling from the tornado that ripped through town one week ago, are struggling with where they’ll sleep tomorrow night.

Many who took refuge in initial response resources now wait for the next round of help while they wonder where to go before that kicks in.

Eugene Hetler’s apartment complex is situated in the path of destruction. He said the natural disaster didn’t just uproot trees; it uprooted his family’s life.

“It looks like a bomb went off. And it felt like that,” said Hetler. “I felt Gods force field. Our car wasn’t even barely touched. I felt like God protected us and protected my family, but we’re stuck. We’re stuck without anything, and the aftermath is like a war zone.”
