UN Nuclear Watchdog Warns Israel Could Target Iran’s Nuclear Facilities in Revenge Attacks
The head of the UN’s nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency expressed concerns about Israel potentially targeting Iranian nuclear sites, amidst escalating tensions. Iran temporarily closed its nuclear facilities citing security concerns on Sunday. This came after Iran’s aerial assault on Israel which involved hundreds of drones and missiles. IAEA inspectors were barred from inspecting Iran’s nuclear facilities until the situation stabilised. Meanwhile, China’s foreign minister spoke with Iran’s counterpart, discussing Iran’s recent aerial retaliation following an attack on its embassy in Syria. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told China’s Wang Yi that the United Nations Security Council did not make a necessary response when their embassy site was struck on April 1.
