‘Water is life’: Farmers should be concerned about Qld government’s new plan

Farmers should be concerned about the Queensland government’s plan to capture carbon dioxide, turn it into a liquid and bury it deep under the Great Artesian Basin, says Sky News contributor Evelyn Rae.

Her comments come as concerns have been raised about the water in the basin potentially being contaminated by this plan.

“For farmers, contaminated water isn’t just a negative consequence and I know this from experience, water is literally our source of life on a farm,” Ms Rae told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“It is our source of livelihood, it keeps our livestock alive, it keeps our agriculture alive, it’s not just a little negative consequence here and there.

“It can literally mean life or death for a farmer and his stock.

“100 per cent they should be concerned because water is life.”
