Weather alert for strong thunderstorms in Fayette Ridges and Fayette County Sunday evening [Video]

The National Weather Service issued a report at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 6 p.m. for Fayette Ridges and Fayette County.

Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 50 mph.

“At 5:10 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Brownsville, or 8 miles northwest of Uniontown, moving east at 30 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Uniontown, Connellsville, South Connellsville, Dunbar, Republic, Vanderbilt, Dawson, Grindstone, New Salem, Ohiopyle, Mill Run, Indian Head and Normalville.

According to the weather service, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for southwestern Pennsylvania.”
