HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Midway through the month of April and one thing is for sure! Namely, the spring storm season remains active. Take this afternoon when storm clusters with lightning strikes, hail and strong winds have passed through parts of Central West Virginia, including the Little Kanawha and upper Elk River valleys. One hail cell in particular buffeted eastern Braxton County with marbles and dimes (size of hail stones) while no doubt whitening the ground in spots.
As the sun sets Monday night, there will likely be a flair up of thunderstorms from the agitated cloud field of the day. Aided by near record high temperatures (Huntington hit 87, setting a new record high, Charleston matched that number but came up short of a new record), storms fired through central and northern West Virginia. These cells will fade away overnight.
Tuesday we are back at it with partial sunshine …
