Road temperatures Friday afternoon are still above freezing as snow begins to fall across most of the area. Wet roads will quickly become slush and snow-covered, and travel becomes more treacherous. (Copyright 2022 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit – All rights reserved.)

4Warn Weather – Listen closely, and you might hear the rumble of thunder as lightning strikes in the most intense snow bands Friday night. Unfortunately, it could also be the sound of transformers blowing as this wet, heavy snow and high winds continue to cause power outages.

Near-impossible travel conditions will continue through 10 p.m. Friday for all of Metro Detroit down to the Ohio border. Our Exact Track 4D Radar has picked up snowfall rates at one to two inches per hour.

Winds will continue to gust over 40mph at times, reducing visibilities to near zero. Blizzard-like conditions can be expected at times through 9 p.m.
