‘It’s not viable’: Sky News host and panellist clash over renewables

Sky News host Liz Storer and columnist Justin Smith have clashed over Australia’s push towards renewables, with Ms Storer saying “It’s not viable”.

Alinta Energy Chief Executive Jeff Dimery said at the National Press Club on Wednesday that Australians will have to pay more for energy in the future as the country transitions to renewables.

Ms Storer said Australia should use coal “until we have a viable replacement”.

“Nobody has a problem with what you’ve just described, Justin,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“What we have a problem with is them doing it far too fast.

“People are paying extortionate energy prices and being told that they’re going to rise even further.

“It’s not workable, it’s not viable.”
