Revealed in late March, this partnership heralds a major leap forward in the quest for sustainable energy innovations. Accelera is set to deliver two cutting-edge proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers to spearhead an ambitious project in California’s Lost Hills Oil Field, Kern County. This innovative system will utilize solar energy and non-potable water from Chevron’s operations to generate hydrogen directly on-site. Capable of producing over 2 tonnes of hydrogen daily, the project promises to power as many as 80 freight trucks over distances up to 600 miles each, embodying Accelera’s commitment to emission-free technology. Beyond enhancing the Cummins-Chevron strategic alliance to promote alternative fuel usage across North America, this venture also highlights Chevron’s ongoing efforts to expand its array of lower carbon fuel solutions for the region.
