Australia has a ‘history of lost opportunity’ with solar energy [Video]

The history of solar power in Australia has been a “history of lost opportunity”, says Smart Energy Council Chief Executive John Grimes.

“Did you know it was Australians who invented the solar panels used around the world?” Mr Grimes told Sky News Australia.

“Today that has turned into a trillion-dollar global opportunity.

“Basically, none of it has been retained for the Australian economy.

“Finally, we’ve got a government that’s doing some strategic investment to support not just the intellectual property but the commercialisation of that intellectual property.”
