Back-to-back-to-back severe weather threats on the way

Today is the first of three consecutive days of severe weather risks in North Alabama. Conditions are calm now, but starting shortly after lunchtime, rain will push into the Shoals, gaining enough energy to be severe by late afternoon.

The entire Tennessee Valley is in a level 1/5 risk for severe weather. The greatest threats are wind gusts up to 45 mph and large hail, roughly the size of a quarter. The strong to severe storms will exit the region by about bedtime.

Another line of storms will enter into Southern Tennessee and the Shoals starting at about 4 a.m. Wednesday and lasting through late breakfast time.

A level 2/5 risk for severe weather comes into the forecast overnight Wednesday ahead of a cold front line starting at bedtime and moving south and east throughout the wee hours of the morning. This line could be gusty winds up to 50 …
