GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Wisconsin is in severe weather season, and conditions are shaping up for a potentially severe thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon or evening.

The American Red Cross says it’s important to remember thunderstorms can bring high winds, thunder, and lightning. With certain conditions, powerful straight-line winds or a tornado can knock down trees, power lines and mobile homes and damage other structures. Intense rainfall can cause flash floods or prolonged flooding. Hail can damage vehicles and roofs. Lightning strikes can spark fires.

We say this every year: When thunder roars, go indoors!

You should get inside a sturdy building before a thunderstorm hits.

Be prepared to live without electricity, gas or water. Plan for your electrical needs, including medical equipment and cell phones — start your day with phones and a portable charger fully charged.
