Bedford board OKs permit for Moneta vineyard, farm winery [Video]

BEDFORD — A special use permit for a vineyard operation and farm winery on Virginia 122 in Moneta near the Hales Ford Bridge received the Bedford County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval Monday.

Tyler and Ashley Wind, on behalf of Artre LLC, requested the permit to establish the agricultural use on 20-acre and 42-acre parcels at 15772 Moneta Road. The business operation will include a public parking area, a tasting barn, open fields for agritourism use and the vineyard. The board’s approval includes a condition that any external sound equipment must be shut down by 10 p.m. and not heard beyond the perimeter property lines after that time.

The Winds currently operate a winery in Tappahannock and plan agricultural-centered events and activities at the property near Smith Mountain Lake.
