The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has urged commercial and recreational facilities not to use Cauvery and borewell water for pool parties and rain dances on March 25 (Monday) in celebration of Holi, amid the city’s severe water crisis.

“Organising entertainment like rain dances and pool parties for commercial purposes is not advisable at this time. Using Cauvery water and borewell water is prohibited in the public interest,” the board said in its order.

The main two water sources for city dwellers are borewells and the Cauvery River. According to the officials, the decision was made because a lack of rain has caused the groundwater levels in the city to drop, causing numerous borewells to dry up.
