Butte Nuclear Power Plant reports are unfounded [Video]

News reports of a nuclear power plant located in Butte are false according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which says nothing has been proposed for Montana or the Mining City.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Friday told Lee Montana newspapers there have been no discussions with anyone about nuclear power plants in Montana.

Reports of a nuclear power plant for Butte began circulating on television and radio following a Wednesday night meeting of the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners where an Anaconda man said he intended to build a 500-megawatt nuclear power plant in Butte to power a business manufacturing air purifying equipment.

Christian Barlow told commissioners that his company XGen had already received approval for its nuclear power plants from NRC, the federal regulator of all things nuclear in the United States.
