Calls for Australia to ‘lead the way’ on nuclear energy [Video]

Liberal MP Zoe McKenzie has posed that Australia should be the “experimental ground” for nuclear energy.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is expected to outline the Coalition’s nuclear energy policy before the May budget.

“You will have small modular reactors in the ground within the next 10 years,” Ms McKenzie said.

“It’s an era for a country of 26 million people to lead the way to be the experimental ground for some of these new approaches to energy.

“With nuclear, you have got at least 30 countries that use it: France, US, UK, Canada.”
