SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield Public Works updated city council members on the Renew Jordan Creek project.
By spring, the city plans to get a permit under the Clean Water Act. This summer, the city plans to begin the bidding process. DNR requires the city to start bidding by August to be eligible for $5 million in COVID-19 grant money, known as ARPA funds. By Late summer, the city plans to begin construction. And in Spring 2026., the city should have construction finished.
The plans changed several times after public sessions on what the community wanted to see from the park.
“in all the public engagement we did leading up to the project, surprisingly, the dog park was like the number one amenity that people wanted,” said city engineer Chris Dunnaway. “We weren’t really planning to have a dog park when we started.”
